Itinerary
Your Austrian adventure starts in Innsbruck, the heart of the Alps. This city combines urban and outdoor life seamlessly. Explore the charming Old Town with its Golden Roof, walk along the Inn River, and if you arrive early enough, take the Nordkette Cable Car for stunning views of the city framed by towering peaks.
For today, we suggest a car rental or a tourist bus as it will give you the opportunity to explore the Grossglockner High Alpine Road at your own pace. With its many attractions, such as Edelweissspitze with 360° panorama, exhibitions at the “Oberes Nassfeld” and the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, a vantage station visited by the emperor, with incredible views of the majestic Grossglockner. Return the car to Innsbruck where you’ll spend the night.
Train enthusiasts will satisfy their inner child today as you take a historic steam train along the historic Zillertal Rail. Hop on a train to Jenbach, the village from which you’ll take a 32 km trip back in time. The sounds of the rails, the smell of coal and beautiful landscapes will undoubtedly steal your heart. The steam train journey ends in the charming Mayrhofen, a village nestled at the head of the valley. From here, you can take a cable car up to the stunning peaks and return to Innsbruck with a local train.
Today, a local train will be your means of transport as you head on through valleys to the gorgeous Lake Zell. The beautiful lakeside town of Zell am See is the perfect place to enjoy a drink and relax, taking in the serene Alpine charm. Take a cruise across the sapphire-blue lake, stroll the lakefront promenade, sample some traditional Austrian cuisine or visit the Vogtturm museum to catch a glimpse of the town’s past. A train will take you back to Innsbruck where you can enjoy one final dinner in the embrace of the Austrian Alps.
Your tour concludes where it began – spend your remaining time revisiting your favourite spots, stop for a coffee at one of the charming cafés and reflect on your journey before finally waving goodbye to Alpine peaks.

Things to know
On our tours, we want to adjust to your needs as much as possible. That’s why we use a few different accommodations with the same quality. The place of your stay depends on your preferences, budget and availability, especially if we travel during peak season. But don’t worry, we will inform you in advance of all the details!
Your accommodations mostly include breakfast. For other meals, we are aware that everyone has different preferences, which is why we have decided to give you a free hand in choosing restaurants so everyone can eat what they want. We can recommend some places to you, and if you would like to eat at a particular restaurant or try local delicacies, we can make a reservation for you – just let us know. One thing is for sure – you will not go hungry!
Our train tours include local, regional, long-distance and sleeper trains, depending on the tour. We firmly stand behind environmentally friendly travel and authentic experiences, and train travel on established routes is the perfect combination of both. Some of our tours might include special experiences, such as riding aboard a steam train where that is possible.
We strongly encourage you to arrive at the train stations at least 15-30 minutes before your departure time to avoid any potential mishaps. Some of the train tickets may be flexible, meaning the departure time is not tied to the ticket and you can hop on another train, however, that is not always possible.
